I’ve had a rough day. I’m working on a freelance motion graphics project and I’m getting a ‘glitch’. The glitch is a white rectangle that appears across the bottom of a frame, and I don’t know how to get rid of it.
Frustration
We’ve all been there. Where you’re working on something, and there’s a problem you just can’t figure out. The frustration, the aggravation, the self-doubt. You try different things but face failure again and again. Or worse, you’re unable to come up with any more suggestions at all and become immobilized by the issue.
Buckle Down
But that’s when the stubborn streak kicks in. When it comes right down to it, you’ve got to keep at it. Because it’s about making it work, no matter what. It doesn’t matter what goes on behind the scenes, as long as it looks good. It’s pushing through to make it right. It’s buckling down and keep working at it even if you have to go beyond Plan B to C or even D or G – and all the other motivational posters you can think of. You keep trying until you find a solution.
Elimination
As far as my project goes, we’ve come up with a workable fix. We’re going to take two copies of the video and edit them together, creating one glitch-free video. It’s a mess ‘on paper,’ but to the client, it will look like one seamless piece. It may not look pretty behind the scenes, but as long as it works, that’s what matters.
When’s the last time you’ve had to buckle down and cobble something together to make a project work? What was your final solution?
